Our association with West Cumbria stretches back a long way |

There has been a Haighs in Workington since before the turn of the
century.
The full history of the business is only now coming to light but we
understand that there has been a HAIGHS in West Cumbria for over a 100 years |

We are not certain of the exact dates of the above photographs. If you think you know we'd
love to hear from you

Our more recent history starts 25years ago, when the Pearson and Dalzell families
formed a partnership that laid the foundations for the Haighs of today.
Word spread quickly. Here was a retailer whose food tasted just as good as memory made
it - bursting with flavour.

|
Success followed success and we concentrated on the market for
fresh, wholesome produce. Burgeoning demand meant expansion; our Workington outlet was
enlarged and then expanded again; a new shop was opened in nearby Whitehaven and our
customer list began to include large commercial concerns. |

|
Today 10,000 customers per week queue at our counters, and many of
the leading hotels in the Lake District serve our produce for dinner. Many a visitor has
sat back and remarked contentedly on the flavour of Cumbrian beef! |
We wouldnt have scaled the pinnacle of success without the
commitment and loyalty of our staff. We employ 70 people in our West Cumbrian outlets.
Here are just a few; |
